Why We Don’t Accomplish Our Objectives

Why We Don’t Accomplish Our Objectives

I can only think of these 4 reasons why we don't accomplish our objectives.

They are:

a. They’re unrealistic

b. They’re dictated by others

3. They’re too vague

4. We lack motivation.

Unrealistic Objectives

Many people go through life setting unrealistic objectives and never accomplishing any of them. It’s an interesting phenomenon. People who set unrealistic objectives often have a negative self-image. Subconsciously, they think of themselves as losers. However, they like to go through the motions of setting objectives, so when they fail, they can say to themselves, “Poor me, I'm such a failure, I keep trying but I never seem to make it.” In this way, they feed their self-image as a loser. When someone visits a weight loss doctor and says, “I want to lose 0 pounds.” the doctor usually tells him, “Let’s set an objective of 10 pounds first, and see how it goes.” A good doctor pushes the patient back to reality because he or she realizes it’s important that objectives are realistic.

Here is a complete guide to taking your motivation way ahead of others

Objectives Dictated By Others

Be sure that you set objectives only for things you truly want. Set Objectives that are important to you regardless of what the rest of the world thinks. Your son might give his right arm for a Porsche, but you're perfectly happy driving your old car.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where advertising messages constantly bombard us, telling us what we should want out of life. Too often, they overwhelm us and we never stop to determine what we really want. You wouldn’t let someone else sit down and write out your objectives for you, would you? Then why should you let yourself be controlled by advertising messages or other people’s comments about what you should be doing?

They’re Too Vague.

We just need to be specific. For example, if one of your objectives is to acquire an apartment building, don’t word it vaguely. Even saying you want a 16-unit apartment building is too vague. Feed your subconscious as many details as possible, you should be able to feel the objective in all its reality. “I want to own a 16- unit apartment building within 10 KM from my home. It will have at least 12 two-bedrooms apartment. It will have a swimming pool with a security fence, and the tenants will pay for all the utilities.

The more clearly you see the objective, the closer you’ll be to accomplishing it. An objective like, “I want to have a comfortable cash reserve in the bank within a year,” is not as powerful as, “I want $15000 in the bank as a cash reserve by next year April.

Lack Of Motivation

Motivation always follows desire, doesn’t it? Do you have enough desire? Do you have enough reasons to pursue your objective?

There’s an old proverb that says, “When the student is ready, a teacher will appear.” Understand that when the desire to fulfill a mental picture is strong enough, the opportunity will appear. Be sure your objective excite you so much that they give you a driving desire to accomplish them. When you’ve trained yourself to review your objectives daily and you’ve started to build a mental picture in such details and with such clarity that it demands to become real, you’ll have arrived on the road to financial independence.

Setting realistic, specific, and motivating objectives is the only way any of us can begin to define the direction of our lives. Know that only with sharply defined, imaginative, and stimulating objectives will you be able to achieve your goals.

You can now define and write down your five-year and one-year objectives. Commit to thinking about them for a few minutes every day for the next 21 days. Then start to act as though it’s impossible to fail.
