Mandatory Requirement For Success — Learn Human Relations

A common misconception that traps a lot of people, particularly those just out of universities, is that they believe they will rise to the top by mastering the technical aspects of the job. So they concentrate on mastering every little detail of the job. While that is good and commendable, it is not enough. What is even more critical is your ability to get along with other people. Why? Because as long as we are living here on this planet, learning to get along is a mandatory requirement for success. For starters, who are you working with? People. Who is buying your products? People. Who is going to promote you? People. The answer is always people. So if you want to get anywhere, it is obviously to your advantage to know how to get along with other people.
Some of you may still believe otherwise. So let’s look at more questions. Does the most knowledgeable doctor in the hospital get to be the boss? Does the most knowledgeable salesman sell the most? Do the most brilliant engineers rise to be the head engineer? The obvious answer is no. Even in a highly technical job as an architect, the chief is not necessarily the hottest, flashiest architect. of course, he is not the worst either. Often, the guy rising to the top is the person that gets along and gets along well. he has mastered the art of human relations and knows his way around people.
Though he was no expert in oil, John D. Rockefeller made his fortune and became the first billionaire in history from black gold. Andrew Carnegie was referred to as the Steel King, the truth is that most of his employees knew more about steel than him. In Malaysia, Robert Kuok is known as the Sugar King. I doubt that he can tell you much about the technical aspect of processing sugar. But it does not matter, because all of them had mastered the more important detail — -getting along and getting the best out of others.
So learn to get along even as you are learning the technical aspects of your job. Learn to negotiate, learn body language, learn NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and learn how to get the best out of your fellow colleagues.
It is a mandatory requirement for success.
That’s all for now, my friends. See you all in my next article.
